YOU DID IT!

13,011 pairs of shoes are on their way!

In 2011 Napa Valley CanDo gathered over 13,000 pairs of gently-used shoes for distribution via Soles4Souls. Since its inception following the devastating Asian tsunami in 2004, Soles4Souls (www.soles4souls.org) had distributed nearly 12 million pairs of new and gently used shoes, half in the U.S. and half overseas.

The driving force in this CanDo effort involved kids. Students from Napa's middle schools helped lead the way through "The Green Teens" leadership program. High schools collected shoes as did Scouts. At nearly a hundred sites in businesses, libraries, and on people's front porches, shoes were collected. Shoes were sorted, counted, and packed by CanDo volunteers in a donated building. A local shipper, Biagi Brothers, donated a truck and driver to transport the shoes to Las Vegas, NV, Soles4Souls' nearest warehouse.
